Custom fit floor mats are made using the precise measurements of the exact year, make, and model of your vehicle. Car manufacturers often change the shape and size of the driver side and passenger side floor wells when they change the body style. This means that every car is different and needs to be measured to ensure the mats fit perfectly. The driver side, passenger side and rear floor wells are measured by an experienced floor mat pattern architect. 

Every year, when new car models come out, measurers will seek out the most popular selling car models first - and go down the funnel until as many cars as possible are measured. Custom floor mats come with clips or another type of fastening system to safely secure your floor mats to the floor well of your vehicle. 

Custom car mats also provide excellent style that compliments the look of your cars existing leather interior. Because they are made to order, you can select from a variety of materials and colors. Universal-Fit Cars Floor Mats

A universal fit floor mat is an option if you’re looking to save a few dollars. Since they aren't made to fit the vehicle perfectly and can be mass produced, they are less expensive.  A universal fit floor mat will cover the general area of your floor or trunk and provide basic protection from the elements. These products are usually made from either carpet or rubber.

The Verdict

We highly recommend any car owner seriously consider a set of custom floor mats. They provide maximum protection for your floor well, safely fasten into your vehicle, and provide an upscale compliment to your vehicle's existing leather interior. A new set of custom-fit floor mats can really improve the appearance of your car. However, if it is out of your budget and you are looking for an inexpensive option, universal mats may do the job for you.
