How to Clean Car Mats

Car floor mats made with top-grain automotive leather and are one of the hottest new products on the car accessory market today. They add a nice kick to your interior and the color of the mats can be customized to match the interior of the vehicle.

They’re also incredibly durable, all-weather, waterproof, and non-slip. We get it - you get in and out of your car every day and you need mats that are going to withstand that. You’re also making an investment in your vehicle with a pair of Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories leather floor mats. There are cheaper, vinyl alternatives on the market today but leather floor mats are a luxury that you expect to last a lifetime. With the proper care and cleaning, your mats can last you years.

Our mats are made with top-grain automotive leather, the same grade leather used by original car manufacturers and many upholsters. The tanning process that automotive leather endures creates a durable and waterproof leather, that is perfect for use in the floor well of your vehicle. You can read more about the different types of leather here if you are interested.

Our mats were built so that they can hold up in any climate, rain or shine. But we also know that they are going to get dirty through regular daily use. While it doesn’t rain very often in Beverly Hills, California, (we know we’re spoiled) we also knew we needed to build a product that would stand the test of time in places with heavy snow and rain.

So, how do you clean them? We’ve designed the process to be seamless. It’s actually very easy and takes less than five minutes, from start to finish.

When cleaning leather, the simplest way is often the most effective way. By following these five simple steps, you will be able to keep your leather mats clean no matter the weather conditions! So go ahead, get them dirty. Today, we’re going to show you how to clean these car floor mats in a 2019 Audi Q5 that is equipped with a set of black quilted leather car mats with black trim.

Step 1: Get a cloth and make sure it’s clean. We recommend using a microfiber towel for prolonged care as these towels are incredibly soft and made specifically for car care. You can buy a good microfiber towel here or use an existing one.

Step 2: Wet the cloth with room temperature water. It just needs to be damp so wring out any extra water. In most cases, you don’t need to use soap or any sort of cleaner; water will do just fine.

Step 3: Wipe your mats. You don’t need to remove them for your vehicle but can if you want to.

Step 4: Dry your mats with a new cloth or using the other side of the towel.

Step 5: That’s it - clean mats! Now they are back to the way they came when you first unboxed them.

In general, here are a few do’s and don’ts to keep your mats like new.

Do: Clean your mats as often as necessary. This will depend on how often you drive, the weather conditions where you live, and how clean you keep your shoes! Occasional maintenance prevents major dirt from accumulating and it only requires the quick wipe down we described above.

Don’t: For long term protection of the leather, please avoid using detergents, saddle soap, cleaning agents, solvents, oil or ammonia.

Do: For tougher stains and in order to refresh your leather scent, a product we recommend to use to clean our BHMA Quilted Leather Floor Mats is Leather Conditioner by Leather Honey, which will keep your leather mats smelling like they first came! You can find it here on Amazon.

We hope these tips will help you keep your mats in great shape. As always, thank you for your business and happy motoring.
